Rivian Software Update 2025.46 Brings Universal Hands-Free, Drive Style Controls, and Digital Key
What’s Included in the Latest update?
🧠 Universal Hands-Free Now Rolling Out (Gen 2 Only)
With 2025.46, Gen2 R1T and R1S owners can now experience Universal Hands-Free—a next-generation driver assistance feature that allows you to steer, accelerate, and brake without hands on the wheel on over 3.5 million miles of mapped North American roads.
It uses Driver Attention Detection to ensure your eyes stay on the road, and can be activated by pulling the drive stalk twice when the icon appears on supported roadways.
- ⚠️ Note: This feature does not handle traffic lights, stop signs, or navigation turns. Drivers must remain alert and ready to take control.
🎛️ New: Autonomy Drive Styles
You can now customize the personality of your driver assistance system by selecting a Drive Style:
- 💤 Mild – Smooth acceleration and longer following distance
- 🚗 Medium – Balanced lane changes and response to cut-ins
- 🔥 Spicy – Tighter gaps and quicker steering transitions
Switch styles anytime using the thumb controls on the steering wheel.
🎮 RAD Tuner (Quad-Motor Exclusive)
Built by the Rivian Adventure Department, RAD Tuner lets Quad-Motor owners fine-tune their off-road drive experience by customizing:
- Acceleration, Regen, Brake Assist
- Ride Height, Damping, Roll Stiffness
- Torque Balance, Stability, Wheel Slip
- Steering Assist
Each setting is accessible via touch sliders and can be saved as custom drive modes.
🔄 Kick Turn (Quad-Motor Exclusive)
This new off-road maneuvering feature allows your vehicle to rotate in place or significantly reduce its turning radius under 15 mph. Kick Turn helps:
- Navigate blocked trails
- Reverse direction on narrow paths
- Handle tight switchbacks with ease
🔑 Digital Key Support Is Now Live
You can now store your Rivian digital key in:
- Apple Wallet (iPhone + Apple Watch)
- Google Pixel
- Samsung Wallet
Key features include:
- Ultra-Wideband (UWB) precision
- NFC-based unlocking even in Power Reserve Mode
- Share keys with up to 8 trusted users
- Seamless setup via the Rivian App v3.8.0+
🗺️ Navigation & Driver Display Improvements
- You can now switch between Autonomy View and Navigation View using the right thumbwheel
- Autonomy View now zooms out to show more context behind your vehicle
- Navigation loads faster and now offers alternate route selection right after starting a trip
- Zooms out more when not on a route to show buildings and points of interest
🛠️ Other Fixes and Enhancements
- Regen settings are now saved per drive mode
- Improved SiriusXM load times
- Enhanced passive entry reliability (iPhone 17)
- Fixed a rare issue affecting liftgate closure
